SPA VILNIUS Druskininkai has been awarded the “Green Key” certification — one of the most recognised standards for environmental responsibility and sustainability in the tourism sector. The certification is also a commitment to meeting the strict requirements set by the Foundation for Environmental Education, ensuring that SPA VILNIUS guests can be confident that their stay contributes to protecting the environment.
To receive this important recognition, SPA VILNIUS had to meet “Green Key” requirements in areas including waste management, reducing water and energy consumption, the use of appropriate cleaning and washing products, food products, and other categories. We have also committed to involving our guests, employees, suppliers, and the local community in environmental initiatives.
The certification programme, coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), has been running since 1994, when it began in Denmark. France joined Green Key in 1998, and in 2003, “Green Key” became a programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education. Since then, “Green Key” has become the fastest-growing eco-label in the tourism sector, assessing tourism businesses across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Caribbean. In Lithuania, the “Green Key” programme is administered by the „Lietuvos žaliųjų judėjimas“.
