Massage Master Recognised at International Championship

On 13 April 2024, the International Open Massage Championship took place in Lithuania, bringing together massage professionals to compete for top honours. SPA VILNIUS massage therapists Ieva Šimonytė and Aleksandr Zubkevič also took part, winning first and third place in different categories.

The championship gave massage professionals an opportunity to showcase their skills, while offering the audience a chance to expand their knowledge of wellness and learn more about SPA massage techniques. Judges from Switzerland, Greece, and Poland evaluated the participants across different categories, covering massage techniques ranging from traditional SPA treatments to specialised therapeutic massage.

In the Wellness category, Aleksandr Zubkevič presented his own sports massage technique using soft tissue mobilisation tools, earning first place. In the Freestyle category, his combination of Eastern and Western massage techniques – Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and Thai massage – secured him third place.
During the championship, Aleksandr also received an official invitation to compete at the World Massage Championship in Copenhagen, taking place on 28–30 June 2024.

This is not the massage specialist’s first championship. Driven by a desire to keep up with the latest massage trends, discover new techniques, connect with other professionals, assess his own skills, and promote soft tissue massage, Aleksandr regularly takes part in various competitions. According to Aleksandr, these events provide an excellent environment for continuous learning and professional growth.

Aleksandr has always been interested in sports and anatomy, which led him to pursue massage as a way to deepen his knowledge in these areas. He graduated from VESK (the Vocational Education and Training Centre for Business and Hospitality) and has been working as a massage therapist for five years.
“I have found something I truly enjoy and feel completely at home in this field. I am constantly striving to improve,” says Aleksandr. He recently received certification and authorisation to work with soft tissue mobilisation tools and is now preparing for the upcoming World Massage Championship in Denmark.

We are proud of our colleague’s achievements and wish him every success, both in his professional journey and in future competitions.
